Tinchebray.
La Sittelle is just 3km from the market town. Visit the ‘Prison Royale’ museum unique to the region where the prison cells and courtroom have been kept in their original state from the 17th century. Tickets from the tourist office.

Le vieux Tinchebray, la ville épargnée par les bombardements de 1944 à conservé ses rues, ses ruelles pavées et ses maisons anciennes. Le vieux lavoir date de l'époque médiéval. L'nsemble tribunal, halle et prison royale date du xviième siècle. Les cellules restée dans leur état original sont uniques dans la région.

The Normandy beaches. Les plages du débarquement

Follow the history of the D-Day landings and the ‘battle of Normandy’. At Arromanches you will find the 360° cinema and war museum.
Visit the English, American and German cemeteries. Norman soil is the final resting place for almost 20,000 young soldiers who never returned.

A arromanches le musée de débarquement a été construit sur le site même où fut implanté le pot artificiel dont on peut encore voir les vestiges à quelques certaines de mètres du rivage. un film "le prix de la liberté" est projeté sur 9 écrans dans une salle circulaire, mêlant images du débarquement de 1944 et de la normandie d'audjord'hui.

Le Mont St. Michel.

The long history of Mont St Michel is thought to date back to 708, when Aubert, bishop of Avranches had a sanctuary built on Mont Tombe in honour of the archangel Michael. The Benedictines settled in the abbey in the 10th century, while a village grew up below its’ walls. Classified as a historic monument in 1874, it underwent major restoration work. Visitors can now experience the splendour of the abbey that people of the middle ages regarded as a representation of the heavenly Jerusalem on earth, an image of paradise. Mont St Michel has been listed as a world heritage site by UNESCO since 1979.

Domfront.

A mediaeval city of historical interest, with its narrow streets, inner courtyards and half-timbered houses.

L'origine de la ville remonte au x1e siècle. bénéficiant d'un site naturel privilégié, la ville de Domfront offre un panorama exceptionel avec ses rues étroites, ses cours intérieurs, ses maisons à colombages, elles reste audjourd'hui un example d'architecture urbaine de moyen age.

Bayeaux.

Home of the world famous tapestry, the Général de Gaulle museum, the battle of Normandy museum, the cathedral, the Baron Gerard lace & porcelain museum, the museum of religious art, the clock workshop, the Bayeux lace conservatory and the British cemetery. A charming old fashioned town, fortunate not to have been bombed during the war.

Falaise.

This small town is dominated by an enormous Anglo-Norman fortress, the birthplace of William the Conqueror. Stroll through the streets and admire the 17 & 18th century residences.

Clecy.

Tourist centre of the ‘Suisse Normande’. One of the most picturesque beauty spots of the Orne valley. Facilities for fishing, canoeing, climbing, walking, hand gliding and horse riding can be found here.
Visit the model railway museum ‘musée du chemin de fer miniature’.

Pont Erambourg.

Explore Suisse Normande on 6km of un-used railway on a specially adapted ’rail bike’

Vire.

Lac de la Dathée. Situated 6km from Vire ,the golf course (18 holes) overlooking the lake is one of the most beautiful in Normandy. Other activities include a 24 place driving range, mini-golf, sailing club (pedalos, rowing, windsurfing, kayak), fishing, walking or cycling (bikes for hire) around the 7km path.  Bird sanctuary and dam.
